Top-50 Country Songs of 2016

December 31, 2016

While 2016 wasn’t a banner year for country music, I consider it “above average”. If there was a major knock on one of the top radio formats in the country, it was that newer artists’ music tended to be passed over for more established acts. This criticism is borne out in most airplay publications, where the vast majority of spins were given to well-known artists while up-and-comers fought for the leftover scraps (mostly on late night/overnight where nationally syndicated shows rule the roost).
