A quartet of future Hall of Famers continued to build their enshrinement resumés, passing impressive names as they move closer to the top of the NFL’s statistical lists.

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald caught six balls for 81 yards and a touchdown in a 40-7 pasting of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, with the touchdown reception being his 101st, passing Tim Brown and Steve Largent for eighth on the league’s all-time list. The score, also, tied Largent for 21st in all-time touchdowns scored (101), moving Fitzgerald ahead of Franco Harris and Curtis Martin. In addition, the 13-year veteran from Pittsburgh tied current Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten for career receptions with 1,032.

Indianapolis running back Frank Gore rushed for 44 yards and caught three passes for 19 yards and a touchdown as the Colts lost 34-20 at Denver. Gore, in his 12th season out of Miami (FL), passed Franco Harris for 13th on the NFL’s rushing list (12,043), tied Calvin Johnson, Joe Perry, Andre Rison, Herschel Walker and Steve Smith for 47th on the all-time touchdown list (84) and moved past Warrick Dunn for 17th in yards from scrimmage with 15,331.

In that same game, Aqib Talib registered his ninth interception return for a touchdown, picking off an Andrew Luck pass and sprinting 46 yards for the score. The pick-six vaulted the former Kansas Jayhawk past Eric Allen, Ronde Barber and Charles Tillman & into a tie with Ken Houston, Deion Sanders and Aeneas Williams for 4th all-time while the ninth non-offense touchdown ranks 21st in league history, moving the 9-year veteran past Adam Jones and 18 others and into a tie Darren Sproles and 11 others.

Also, Drew Brees, now, stands third in passing yards after throwing for 263 yards in New Orleans’ 16-13 loss to the New York Giants. The future Hall of Famer, now in his 16th year out of Purdue, passed Dan Marino in the loss and sits at 61,589 passing yards. Brees, who has missed, only, eight games since being named a starting quarterback in 2002 with the San Diego Chargers, could, conceivably, pass the only two players ahead of him in passing yards, Peyton Manning and Brett Favre, midway through the 2018 season and is under contract through 2017.
