Florida returns to the top of the college baseball rankings this week on the strength of a 3-1 campaign, which started with a 3-1 victory over pesky Jacksonville and concluded with a series win at McKethan Stadium over Georgia. The Gators’ only loss of the week was a 2-1, 12-inning, heart-breaker against the visiting Dawgs, but Kevin O’Sullivan’s crew righted the ship quickly, posting a pair of easy victories in advance of a showdown with SEC-East foe South Carolina.

Texas A&M moves up a spot to second after a 3-1 week. The Aggies humbled Texas State, 14-1, before taking two of three games vs. Alabama in College Station. Miami drops out of the top spot and lands in third after a loss to Florida Atlantic and a series loss to defending College World Series Champion Virginia at Mark Light Field. Mississippi State rejoins the top-five, in fourth, with a 3-1 week that began with a nail-biting, 14-inning, 1-0 victory, over Louisiana-Monroe and ended with a road series win at Alex Box Stadium over LSU. South Carolina ascends six places to fifth after rolling past Furman in an in-state mid-week game and sweeping Missouri in the Palmetto State’s version of Columbia.

North Carolina State leads the second five, up three places, despite a blow-out loss to East Carolina and a pair of easy decisions over hapless North Carolina A&T. Louisville started the week on an up note, with a victory over Kentucky, but lost two of three to Boston College in Chestnut Hill, MA, and slips from fifth to seventh. Florida State jumps five notches to eighth with a 5-0 week, but it wasn’t easy for the Seminoles, as they inched past Stetson for a pair of wins and held off resurgent Notre Dame for a three-game sweep at Dick Howser Stadium. Vanderbilt drops five positions to ninth after a mid-week win over Central Arkansas and a series loss at Tennessee. LSU rounds out the top-ten, all inhabited by SEC or ACC teams, as the Tigers dropped three places after a win over Southland Conference favorite Southeastern Louisiana and a series loss at home to Mississippi State.

Oklahoma State re-enters the rankings this week, at #19, after defeating Oklahoma in a non-conference schedule filler and a series win in Stillwater over TCU. Making their 2016 debuts this week are UNC Wilmington and Wake Forest. The Seahawks, who occupy the top perch of the Colonial, rolled past Campbell and swept Towson for a 4-0 week and the #23 spot in this week’s top-25. Meanwhile, the Demon Deacons made alumnus and Fox Business Network star Dagen McDowell happy, after sweeping North Carolina at Couch Ballpark in Winston-Salem, NC. With their first sweep of UNC since 2001, Wake Forest, effectively, knocked the Tar Heels out of the rankings, as Mike Fox’s squad was ranked 16th last week.

Slipping out of the top-25 and into the “also receiving consideration” column, along with North Carolina, are Clemson and Kentucky, ranked 22nd and 23rd, respectively, last week.
