In memory of Ian Fraser “Lemmy” Kilmister. 24 December 1945 – 28 December 2015

2015, in some circles, was an average year for rock music. I don’t subscribe to that line of thought, as I think it was a great year. This list is comprised of singles that were released in 2015 (or extremely late 2014 based upon digital download or You Tube availability) and is not indicative of chart position, airplay numbers or any other measured system. It’s based upon what I like (as my lists always are). Also, I don’t include certain songs that are on Billboard’s “Hot Rock Charts” as they do not fit my definition of “rock music”. For example, on the top of the chart (as of this writing) is Elle King’s “Ex’s and Oh’s”. While it’s a nice song if that’s your thing, it does not qualify as rock music here. As always, you are welcome to disagree with my top-50. Links to You Tube videos are, also, provided, in the event you, the fine reader, are not familiar with the title of the song.

Hours before I was set to publish this list, the world of rock lost a big name: Lemmy from Motörhead, as well as Hawkwind, passed away four days after his 70th birthday. The outpouring of thoughts about this rock giant on social media was amazing. He touched many of us in rock music and he will never be forgotten. My thoughts, prayers and much love go out to his friends, family and millions of fans all over the world.
