Following Week 2 of the NFL schedule, numerous players moved up the league’s all-time statistics rankings, no one more than Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald. The 12-year veteran from Pittsburgh had a monster outing at Chicago on Sunday, catching eight passes for 112 yards and three touchdowns. Fitzgerald moved past Torry Holt for 18th in receptions, Jimmy Smith for 20th in receiving yards, Isaac Bruce for 11th in touchdown receptions and nine players, including Hall of Famers Tony Dorsett, Bobby Mitchell, Charley Taylor and Leroy Kelly, for 27th in total touchdowns.

Baltimore receiver Steve Smith, Sr. had an outstanding week, as well, in a 37-33 loss at Oakland. The 15-year vet from Utah caught ten passes for 150 yards against the Raiders’ defense and passed Torry Holt for 17th in receptions and 13th in receiving yards and 32nd in yards from scrimmage, passing Andre Reed and Andre Johnson.

New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning became the 15th player in NFL history to surpass 40,000 passing yards and passed Hall of Famer Johnny Unitas for 14th with his 292-yard effort in a 24-20 home loss to Atlanta. Meanwhile, New England signal-caller Tom Brady passed Drew Brees for 4th on the touchdown pass list with 399, one ahead of Brees’ 398. However, the New Orleans quarterback could miss several games, as reported Monday that Brees’ has a shoulder injury that could cause him to miss “several games”.
