LSU takes over the top spot in this week’s rankings after, easily, dispatching mid-week opponent Lamar and SEC foe Georgia in Athens. Despite the finale of the three game set at Foley Field being washed out, the 3-0 week was enough for Paul Mainieri’s club to leapfrog UCLA and Texas A&M to pace the top-25. The Tigers will have a tough test on their hands this weekend, as the Aggies come calling to Alex Box Stadium with the series winner to, likely, pace next week’s rankings.

Texas A&M falls to second after a 2-2 week, including a weather-marred series at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park in College Station. Following a Friday night rain-out, the Aggies won the first game vs. Arkansas on Saturday and, with an 8-3 lead in the nightcap after six innings, weather suspended the contest to Sunday. The Razorbacks rallied to win 9-8 and hammered the Aggies in the finale to win the series.

UCLA, through no fault of their own, drops one spot to third after a 3-1 week and a series victory over California. Louisville inches up a spot to fourth, despite a mid-week loss to Ohio State, after sweeping a gritty Wake Forest team and TCU rejoins the top-five after a perfect week which included a sweep of visiting Santa Clara.

Florida and UC Santa Barbara, each, move up two spots to sixth and seventh, respectively while Arizona State drops four notches to eighth following a 2-2 week. Illinois, winners of 13 games in a row, makes its debut in the top-ten in ninth and Florida Atlantic jumps up two places to tenth.

Vanderbilt, on the heels of a mid-week loss to Belmont and a series loss at South Carolina, drops out of the top-ten, falling six places to 12th. Miami-Florida lost two of three at Virginia to slip from 10th to 13th.

Coastal Carolina, Nebraska and UC Irvine all dropped out of the rankings this week, replaced by Nevada, Ohio State and Radford. Nevada returns to the top-25 following a one-week absence while the Buckeyes and Highlanders make their 2015 debuts. Ohio State blanked Louisville in a mid-week tilt and took two of three at Nebraska to earn their spot while Radford, following a weather cancellation at Virginia, won their weekend series at Coastal Carolina and leads the Big South standings.

While the highlight of this weekend is, obviously, the #1 LSU vs. #2 Texas A&M series, there are plenty of matchups to keep an eye on. #13 Miami hosts #14 Florida State at Mark Light Field and #12 Vanderbilt looks to recover from back-to-back weekend series losses as #25 Missouri visits Hawkins Field.

Meanwhile, there is a brouhaha taking shape in the Ivy League to watch this weekend: Columbia and Pennsylvania pace the Gehrig Division of the conference with 14-2 records and will go head-to-head for four games as the regular season ends for both clubs. The Lions will host a doubleheader at Robertson Field at Satow Stadium on Saturday while the Quakers welcome Columbia to Meiklejohn Stadium in Philadelphia on Sunday for a pair of games.
